Happy Sunday. Here is this week’s grab bag of things to gander/ponder/pause on:
Catching up with Lia Burke Libaire
It’s time for another check-in with one of my book subjects from The House Romantic. This morning, it’s the artist Lia Burke Libaire, who not only stars in one of the features, but also illustrated both the cover and the interior pages. I knew from the very beginning that I wanted some sort of watercolor element in the book, and I loved the sense of humor and whimsy and the sophisticated color mash-ups in her work. Along the way, I also learned that Lia is also refreshingly collaborative and supportive, and I feel very lucky that she was part of the wild ride of building a book together. These days, she’s constantly in motion with new projects, including an ongoing licensing deal with the Grateful Dead, a thriving framed art shop on Chairish, pop-ups with Moda Operandi and others, her line of wallpaper and fabric, and so much goodness on her personal site, like this cheeky sticker collection. This fall she’s headed to Texas for Round Top and an event with one of my favorite furniture and lifestyle brands, Society Social. Lia, along with fellow artists like Meredith Walker and Kiki Slaughter and many more, will be debuting exclusive pieces in tandem with Framebridge, and it’s going to be absolutely beautiful. If you’re headed that way, bookmark the details here.

Interesting Mirrors
I’m a big fan of the British shop Oliver Bonas, and I particularly like the cut-glass, colored mirrors they have on offer at the moment. They feel a little Art-Deco and the opposite of snoozy and homogenous. Some of the goods from Oliver Bonas ship stateside but sadly big items like their mirrors do not, so they have to serve as inspiration. However, there are a few similar ideas available at retail in America, including this Wizard of Oz looking design by Villa & House. I’ve also rounded up more here.
Stylish PBS Gear
I don’t think I could survive without PBS. It’s one of my favorite pastimes, right up there with gardening, reading, and travel. When I’m very, very old, I hope it’s still around to keep me company and stimulate my brain. Until then, we can all help keep their wonderful work in business by donating directly, or even picking up a piece of stylish gear by Lingua Franca below (they make pieces for kids, too).
